English Legacy: Catapult (Chapter 9)

"Ooooo, we were little boys
Ooooo, we were little girls
It's nine o'clock, don't try to turn it off
Cowered in a hole, opie mouth. Question:
Did we miss anything? Did we miss anything?"
"345 Riverblossom Hills Drive, please," Brian said to the cab driver. "Please drive carefully, there's a new baby boy back here." Brian then turned to his wife, who was holding their son in her arm. "How are you feeling, my love?"

Laurel smiled at him, and down at the baby she was holding. "Oh, I'm fine," she replied with a smile. "A little tired still, but I'm happy to be getting home."

Brian nodded, then tickled his newborn son under the chin. "And how is our little Heir doing?" he asked the infant, who just gurgled at him contentedly and opened his mouth like he was trying to suck in his father's finger.

"Oh, he's fine," Laurel answered for him. "He ate well this morning before you arrived to pick us up. I think he's looking forward to his new home. That reminds me, did you find what we were looking for at the children's store?"

"Yes," Brian answered. "Their selection wasn't great, but I was able to find a wooden name sign that said "Alexander"... they didn't have any that just said "Alex".

Laurel held Alexander to her shoulder, snuggling him. "That's fine.... it is his name, after all."
With the addition of little Alex to the household, Brian and Laurel were kept quite busy, between the diaper changes, the feedings, and bonding time. Laurel had had an excellent pregnancy, and Alexander scored a nine on his Apgar scores at both one and five minutes after birth.

Brian was quite happy to perform his fatherly duties when they first got home, while Laurel ate, slept, and basically got her energy back. Brian played with his son often, and was quite sure he'd be a Brave little boy when he grew up... he never seemed to cry when left alone, not even when the lights in his room were turned off at night.
Laurel loved her infant son as well. She did her part taking care of Alex when Brian was at work, and she couldn't imagine of leaving him with a babysitter. She swore, by the calculating gaze Alex seemed to have, that he was bound to be a Genius, already.

Creator's note: Yes, due to her excellent pregnancy, I was able to choose both traits for Alex. I hit the Randomize button as per the Rules, and was given Genius and Brave.

Little Alex thrived under their care and it seemed like only a few days before he became a toddler, where his calculating, fearless stare was even more apparent.
Creator's Note: What is it with toddlers in Sims 3? I haven't had any yet, boy or girl, that transitioned with hair!
Laurel immediately jumped in to Teach Alexander to Walk, which Alexander grasped quite readily, over the course of an afternoon.
Brian took up some of the teaching duties as well, taking it upon himself to teach Alex to Talk. It went a little slow at first, but Alex's first word was "Butterfly". Brian has had quite a bit of time to spend with his family, ever since he got his final promotion to Dynamic DNA Profiler, fulfilling his Wish of a Lifetime.
Laurel was of course thrilled to hear Brian's news... extra money was always welcome, especially when the two of them hoped to expand the house more. They also planned to need another bedroom, at least, in the future.
Creator's Note: One thing I can't quite figure out is where Alex is getting his orange hair from. Neither Brian or Laurel have changed their hair color at all, and when I chose hair for toddler Alex, I was surprised at the color. Laurel's hair is a very dark purplish red, and Brian's hair is brown.

At any rate, here is our Generation Two Heir - Alexander English.
Favorites : Custom Music, Goopy Carbonara, Hot Pink
Traits: Brave, Genius

Brian fulfilled his Lifetime Wish of Dynamic DNA Profiler.

Wow ... she really does look quite exhausted ... ready to pass out at any minute! :O)

The toddler looks kinda like Lex Luthor. Wouldn't it be interesting if he got EVIL at some point? :O)

What color are the roots of their hair? Brian's hair looks like it might be orange at the roots. Also ... check the family tree of the wife. That might explain it ... mebbe.

Oh yeah, that's a good point, Angelia. I keep forgetting Laurel has actual parents.

Well, she HAD two parents.. right now she only has a mother, after her father... uh... died playing video games with Brian.

Alex didn't even get to "meet" his grandparents - he "knows" three people; his mother, his father, and.... The Grim Reaper.

Laurel actually looks tired there too. I like how realistic you made the whole going home scene. :-D

Welcome baby Alexander! *cheers*

Calculating fearless stare? That looks almost more like an evil plotting stare! *shudders* I have had some transition with hair, but most are either bald or have the super-short fuzz type cropped hair.

Congratulations on getting Brian's LTW already! *claps*

I had one of my sims give birth to a son with blond hair. She's a redhead and her husband has black hair. Both of her parents had red hair. I didn't know what color her husband's parents' hair was, so I assumed one of them was blond. I've started another game in Sunset Valley though and I see Mr. and Mrs. Wolff are actually both black haired sims. So I've no clue where Emory got his blond hair from. *grins and shrugs*

The kid knows the Grim Reaper? I guess that explains that look. *shudders*

Welcome home little Alex. *hides face from Alex's piercing stare* He looks really pissed about being bald.

Good for Brian. He worked hard and now he'll be seeing the rewards for all that hard work.
